You can gift Robux on Roblox, and the feature has a name: Transfers. A Roblox Plus subscriber can send between 10 and 500 Robux per transaction inside an experience that supports it, and Roblox's creator documentation spells out the split: the recipient receives 90%, the experience hosting the prompt earns 10%, and Roblox takes no fee at all. Items follow other systems. Classic Limiteds (the collectible avatar items Roblox itself published, the ones with a resale market) change hands through the trade system, and UGC Limiteds (collectibles published by community creators) change hands through a Marketplace resale.
Quick answer: Roblox Plus subscribers can gift 10 to 500 Robux at a time through in-experience Transfers, and your friend keeps 90% of what you send. There is no gift button for Limited items, so getting one to a friend means trading it to them, which works on Classic Limiteds only, or sending Robux and letting them buy it.
| What you want to hand over | Does it work? | What it takes | What your friend ends up with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Robux, through a Transfer | Yes | Roblox Plus on your account, an experience with transfers turned on, 10 to 500 R$ per transaction | 90% of what you sent |
| Robux, added to a trade | Yes, with a cap | Roblox Plus on both accounts, Classic Limiteds in the trade | The Robux after a 30% fee, capped at half the offered items' value |
| A Classic Limited | Yes, as a trade | Roblox Plus on both accounts, trading turned on in privacy settings | The item, held for 2 days before they can trade it again |
| A UGC Limited | They buy it from you | Your copy listed for resale, Roblox Plus on your account | The item, while you keep 50% of the sale price |
How do you gift Robux on Roblox? Through a 10 to 500 Robux in-experience transfer
Transfers happen inside a game. A creator adds the prompt to their experience, you pick a player and an amount, and Roblox runs the rest. Roblox's documentation is blunt about who controls it: "All Robux transfers are processed and managed by the Roblox platform," through "a Roblox-controlled UI to ensure they are safe and policy-compliant." The creator never sees the details of your transfer.
The size limits are fixed. Roblox's Robux transfers documentation says the amount "must be between 10 and 500 Robux per transaction."
The math is simple. Send 100 Robux and your friend gets 90, while the experience you were standing in earns 10. Send the maximum 500 and 450 lands in their account. That 10% is real income for the creator and counts toward the Developer Exchange program, which is the system that converts creator earnings into real money.
Roblox built this to replace an older workaround. Players used to "gift" each other by buying an overpriced game pass in a donation game, and Roblox's May 2026 announcement published what that route actually paid: 30% to Roblox, 60% to the recipient, 10% to the experience. A transfer moves that to 0%, 90%, and 10%.
Why does gifting Robux need Roblox Plus? Roblox uses the subscription as an accountability check
Roblox Plus is the $4.99 per month subscription that launched April 30, 2026. It is the same subscription that unlocks trading, reselling and publishing Marketplace items, and now it gates sending Robux too.
Roblox's Chief Business Officer explained the reasoning in the May 15, 2026 developer forum post: "Roblox takes no platform fee on Transfers. The Plus requirement exists solely to improve accountability." Instant money movement between strangers invites scams and account theft, so Roblox wants a paid, verifiable account behind every send.
Roblox's documentation describes the subscriber as the one who initiates the transfer, so the requirement sits on the sending side. If you're weighing whether the subscription pays for itself, our breakdown of whether Roblox Plus is worth it works through the trading and discount side of the same 4.99.
How much Robux can you transfer? 5,000 a day and 10,000 a month with 2-Step Verification on
Since May 20, 2026, accounts with 2-Step Verification enabled and in good standing qualify for the higher tier: 5,000 Robux per day and 10,000 Robux per month. Accounts without 2SV sit on lower limits, so turning on 2SV in account settings is the single change that raises your ceiling.
At 90% landing per send, a maxed-out month moves 9,000 Robux into a friend's account.
Age rules changed on June 2, 2026. Parental approval for transfers now applies to users under 16 in most regions, down from under 18, though Roblox says some regions keep the under-18 requirement because of local law. Two more changes are queued: parents will be able to set their own daily and monthly transfer limits in Fall 2026, and a Trusted Friends feature will let approved friends receive transfers without a fresh approval each time.
Can you gift a Limited item to a friend? Classic Limiteds move by trade, UGC by resale
There is no gift option on a Limited. Roblox documents two ways a Limited changes owner, and both put the item into the inventory of whoever bought or traded for it.
The first is the trade system, and it has a hard boundary. Roblox's Marketplace documentation states it plainly: "At this time, only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable." That covers the classic catalog, the Dominus hats, the fedoras, the faces. Everything published by community creators since UGC Limiteds launched in April 2023 sits outside it.
To trade a Classic Limited you both need active Roblox Plus subscriptions and trading switched on under Privacy in account settings. Trading is currently restricted for accounts based in South Korea. Once the trade completes, your friend holds the item for 2 days before they can trade it onward.
The second route is a Marketplace resale, which is the only way a UGC Limited moves. You list your copy, they buy it, and you keep 50% of the sale price under the resale split Roblox publishes: 50% to the reseller, 10% to the creator, 10% to the seller or affiliate, 30% to Roblox. Roblox also notes that reselling community-created Limiteds is unavailable for accounts based in Japan.
Whichever route you use, the item arrives locked for a while. That lock is the holding period, a stretch of days where an item sits in your inventory and can't be sold on. Roblox's Marketplace fee documentation says that "After purchasing a Limited, there is up to a 30 day holding period when the item cannot be resold," and a purchase off the resale market carries a shorter 7-day hold. Our guide to Roblox Limited holding periods lays out which clock applies to which purchase.
Can you add Robux to a trade? Yes, with a 30% fee and a cap at half the items' value
Robux you attach to a trade gets taxed twice over, once by a fee and once by a ceiling. The fee is 30%, so offering 100 Robux delivers 70. The ceiling limits the post-fee Robux to half the value of the items on the table, so a 300 Robux item lets you attach at most 150 Robux after the fee.
That makes attached Robux a sweetener that nudges a trade over the line. When moving cash is the whole point, a straight transfer through an experience keeps 90% of it intact.
Can you cash out Robux that someone gifted you? Transfers are not DevEx-eligible
Gifted Robux stays inside Roblox. The May 2026 announcement says transfers "are not DevEx-eligible" because they exist for personal gifting, and Roblox points creators paying real collaborators toward Group Payouts, which pass 100% and do qualify.
Trading profits carry the same restriction. Roblox's fee documentation warns that "Robux acquired from trading or selling items that you didn't create are not considered earned and are ineligible for the Developer Exchange program." Flipping Limiteds builds Robux you can spend on the platform, and our piece on Robux to USD and DevEx rates covers what that means when you want real money out.
What should you do when someone asks you to gift them Robux? Three checks
Check the route. If someone asks you to buy their game pass instead of sending a transfer, you are handing Roblox 30% and them 60%. A transfer sends them 90%.
Check who is asking. Nobody needs your password, your login code, or a "trusted middleman" to receive Robux. Anyone adding those steps is running a scam, and our guide to Roblox trading scams walks through the common scripts.
Check what they are offering. Real money for Robux, or real money for an item, is cross-trading. It breaks Roblox's rules and puts the items and the account at risk, which we cover in what cross-trading is.
What can a 500 Robux transfer actually buy? Most of the Limited market
A single maxed transfer lands 450 Robux, and that goes further than new traders expect. RBX Invest catalog data as of September 2026 tracks 85,317 Limiteds with a live resale ask. Of those, 30,747 ask under 500 Robux and 10,983 ask under 100 Robux.
So a friend receiving one transfer can shop the cheapest Limiteds under 100 R$ or the wider Limiteds under 500 R$ and own a real collectible the same day. Almost all of that budget tier is UGC: just 137 of those under-500 listings are Classic Limiteds, and only 974 classics ask under 5,000 Robux at all. The items leaderboard sorts the whole catalog by price, RAP (the running average sale price Roblox publishes for each Limited) and volume if you want to scan before sending anything.
None of this is financial advice. Limited prices move, and an item bought as a gift can be worth less next month.
Fee splits, transfer limits, holding periods and tradeability rules here come from Roblox's Marketplace fees, Roblox Plus and Robux transfers creator documentation and from Roblox's May 15, 2026 developer forum announcement on Roblox Plus, Transfers and community gifting; catalog counts are RBX Invest data as of September 14, 2026.
FAQ
Can you gift Robux to a friend on Roblox?
Yes. A Roblox Plus subscriber can send 10 to 500 Robux per transaction through an in-experience transfer prompt, and the recipient receives 90% of the amount. The experience where the transfer happens earns the other 10%, and Roblox takes no fee.
Do you need Roblox Plus to send Robux to someone?
Yes, the sender needs an active Roblox Plus subscription, which costs $4.99 per month. Roblox says the requirement exists to improve accountability, since instant transfers between strangers create scam and account-theft risk.
How much Robux can you transfer in a day?
Accounts with 2-Step Verification enabled and in good standing can transfer 5,000 Robux per day and 10,000 Robux per month, a tier that went live on May 20, 2026. Accounts without 2SV have lower limits.
Can you gift a Limited item on Roblox?
No. A Limited only changes hands through a trade or a Marketplace resale, and both deliver the item to whoever traded or bought it. To get a specific item to a friend, trade it to them if it is a Classic Limited, or send Robux so they can buy it themselves.
Can you trade UGC Limiteds to a friend?
No. Roblox's Marketplace documentation states that only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable, so UGC Limiteds move only by resale. Your friend buys your listed copy, and you keep 50% of the sale price.
Is gifted Robux eligible for DevEx?
No. Roblox states that transfers are not DevEx-eligible because they are built for personal gifting. Robux from trading or from selling items you did not create is also ineligible. Group Payouts pass 100% to recipients and do qualify for DevEx.
How much Robux is lost when you add it to a trade?
Robux added to a trade is charged a 30% fee, so 100 Robux offered delivers 70. The post-fee amount is also capped at half the value of the items in the trade, meaning a 300 Robux item allows at most 150 Robux after the fee.
What can my friend buy with a 450 Robux transfer?
Plenty. As of September 2026, 30,747 of the 85,317 Limiteds with a live ask are listed under 500 Robux, and 10,983 are under 100 Robux. Almost all of them are UGC Limiteds: only 137 Classic Limiteds carry an ask under 500 Robux.
