Dominus and Valkyrie are the two most recognisable hat families on Roblox, and they sit at opposite ends of the same market. A Limited is an item with a fixed number of copies that owners can resell to each other and trade. The Dominus family is the scarce one: eleven Dominus hats are Limiteds, 6,794 copies exist between them, and Dominus Frigidus carries the highest RAP of any item on the platform at 28,059,680 Robux. The Valkyrie family is the reachable one: seven Valkyrie Helm variants are Limiteds and they run to 29,420 copies, which is why one of them asks 14,300 R$ right now while the cheapest Dominus asks 160,000 R$.
Quick answer: Buy a Valkyrie if you want the look on a realistic budget, because the family has a helm listed at 14,300 R$. Buy a Dominus if you are collecting scarcity, because four Dominus hats have fewer than 30 copies each and the whole family is smaller than a single Valkyrie release.
| Dominus | Valkyrie | |
|---|---|---|
| Limited members | 11 hats, plus a DIY kit | 7 helms, plus shades and lookalikes |
| Copies across all Limiteds | 6,794 | 29,420 |
| First release | January 2010 | January 2008 |
| Highest RAP in the family | 28,059,680 R$ | 7,733,715 R$ |
| Cheapest live resale floor | 160,000 R$ | 14,300 R$ |
| Smallest copy count | 23 | 51 |
Two terms before the numbers start. RAP, short for recent average price, is a smoothed average of an item's entire sale history: every sale nudges it one tenth of the way from the old figure toward the price that just went through. The resale floor, or lowest ask, is the cheapest copy anyone has listed for sale at this moment. Those two numbers usually sit close together on busy items and drift far apart on quiet ones, which turns out to be the whole story with these two families.
How many Dominus hats are there? Eleven Limiteds and 6,794 copies
The series started in January 2010 with Dominus Empyreus, sold for 13,337 Robux. The Roblox Wiki records that it first went out under the name Hooded Valkyrie, which makes the head-to-head in this article a family argument as much as a market one. Roblox put out one or two Domini a year for the next decade, some sold for Robux and some handed out inside paid gift boxes, and the copy counts stayed tiny throughout.
Eleven of them are Limiteds you can buy and trade today. The table below is ordered by what traders actually pay for each one, and the gap between that order and the RAP order gets its own section further down.
| Item | Copies | RAP | Lowest ask | Released |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 23 | 13,577,229 R$ | 618,033,988 R$ | Jan 2010 | |
| 27 | 28,059,680 R$ | 618,033,988 R$ | Mar 2011 | |
| 27 | 1,973,087 R$ | 618,033,988 R$ | Jul 2010 | |
| 26 | 14,321,557 R$ | None listed | Jun 2014 | |
| 38 | 6,936,989 R$ | 77,777,777 R$ | Dec 2015 | |
| 302 | 7,620,311 R$ | 8,884,000 R$ | Dec 2013 | |
| 257 | 4,111,229 R$ | 6,499,000 R$ | May 2015 | |
| 266 | 3,824,094 R$ | 9,676,660 R$ | Oct 2011 | |
| 595 | 1,836,761 R$ | 2,330,000 R$ | Oct 2012 | |
| 1,306 | 863,946 R$ | 845,000 R$ | Oct 2016 | |
| 3,927 | 138,143 R$ | 160,000 R$ | Oct 2019 | |
| 8,302 | 12,654 R$ | 12,242 R$ | Apr 2014 |
The DIY kit sits at the bottom for a reason. It went up on April 1, 2014 at 133 Robux as a build-it-yourself version, and wearing one fools nobody. If someone offers you a "Dominus for 12,000 Robux", that is the item they mean.
Not every Dominus is a Limited. The Roblox Wiki's Dominus series page lists six more that are offsale and untradeable, including the Deadly Dark Dominus and Dominus Infinitum, which the wiki records as a grand prize from a 2026 platform event. Those are worth knowing about so you recognise them on an avatar, but they never appear on the resale market, so no price in this article applies to them. You can see the tradeable ones ranked live on the Dominus collection page, and the full origin story is in our Dominus series history.
What is a Valkyrie Helm, and why is it the reachable icon?
The Valkyrie Helm went into the catalog on January 26, 2008, two years before the first Dominus, and it was sold for Tickets. Tickets were Roblox's old free currency, so for five years any player who logged in regularly could save up for one. The Roblox Wiki records a price of 30,000 Tickets and a switch to Limited status in May 2013. That long open sale window is why 12,523 copies exist, against 23 for the first Dominus.
Seven Valkyrie helms are Limiteds. Ordered by what traders pay again:
| Item | Copies | RAP | Lowest ask | Released |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 51 | 4,336,949 R$ | 16,000,000 R$ | Feb 2019 | |
| 267 | 7,733,715 R$ | 66,666,666 R$ | Jul 2013 | |
| 94 | 2,580,879 R$ | 500,000,000 R$ | Nov 2017 | |
| 138 | 1,296,575 R$ | 4,999,999 R$ | Mar 2016 | |
| 2,536 | 351,090 R$ | 368,979 R$ | Nov 2019 | |
| 12,523 | 243,858 R$ | 260,000 R$ | Jan 2008 | |
| 13,811 | 14,290 R$ | 14,300 R$ | Oct 2025 |
Look at the bottom two rows and you can see how the family stays affordable. Roblox keeps adding Valkyrie helms with large print runs, so there is always a recent one trading near its launch price while the older helms climb. Helsworn Valkyrie sold at 12,500 Robux in October 2025 and asks 14,300 R$ today, with 100 copies listed on September 30, 2026. Nothing in the Dominus family has ever been printed at that scale.
The family reaches further than the helms. The Roblox Wiki's Valkyrie series page counted sixteen Valkyrie items as of November 2025, including Redvalk, which comes from a code packed with a physical Roblox toy, plus event and charity items that never go on the market. There are also matching shades and two older lookalike hats, and those are the cheapest way into the look:
| Item | Copies | RAP | Lowest ask | Released |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,403 | 42,247 R$ | 40,000 R$ | Aug 2014 | |
| 646 | 29,865 R$ | 20,000 R$ | Mar 2010 | |
| 935 | 14,636 R$ | 13,000 R$ | Mar 2012 | |
| 4,968 | 4,872 R$ | 5,600 R$ | May 2019 |

Why does Dominus Infernus have a low RAP but a high value?
Dominus Infernus has a RAP of 1,973,087 R$, which places it eighth among the eleven Dominus Limiteds. Traders place it third. With 27 copies in existence and years between sales, its RAP is still carrying the weight of old transactions, and one sale would only move it a tenth of the way toward a current price. A thin market keeps RAP anchored to the past.
The same effect runs the other way in the Valkyrie family. Blackvalk has the higher RAP at 7,733,715 R$, but trader consensus puts the 51-copy Emerald Valkyrie above it. Blackvalk has 267 copies against Emerald's 51, and when two items are both hard to buy, supply breaks the tie.
You can see the strain in the lowest-ask column. Three Domini share a floor of 618,033,988 R$, Sparkle Time Valkyrie's cheapest listing is 500,000,000 R$, and Dominus Astra has no listing at all. No owner expects those to be hit. They are a way of parking a copy where nobody will press buy, which is a normal thing to do with an item you want to keep. Treat any ask in the hundreds of millions as a closed door and assume the real trades happen privately, item for item. If you want a feel for where live asks actually sit across the top of the market, the most expensive Limiteds collection and the items leaderboard both update as listings change. Our guide to what RAP measures goes deeper on the formula.
Which is cheaper to get into? The Valkyrie, by about eleven times
Helsworn Valkyrie at 14,300 R$ against Dominus Formidulosus at 160,000 R$ is the honest entry comparison, and that is an eleven-fold gap. Go a step down and the gap widens: Emerald Valk Shades ask 5,600 R$ and Valkyrie 3000 asks 13,000 R$, while nothing in the Dominus family except the DIY kit comes in under six figures.
One result surprises most people. Dominus Formidulosus at 160,000 R$ is cheaper than the original Valkyrie Helm at 260,000 R$. The plainest Dominus costs less than the plainest Valkyrie, because Roblox printed 3,927 Formidulosus in 2019 and 12,523 Valkyrie Helms across five years of open sale, and age beats print size on the second-hand market. If you specifically want to wear something with Dominus in its name, that is the door.
Both families also spawned a flood of community-made copies with similar names. Those are separate items with separate prices, and we broke down what they actually trade for in UGC Valkyrie and Dominus item prices.
What do fees and holding periods cost on either family?
Both families are classic Limiteds, which means Roblox itself is the creator. Roblox's marketplace documentation states that only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable, so every hat in both tables can move in a player-to-player trade as well as a Robux sale. That matters at the top end, where listings are parked out of reach and trades are how copies change hands.
On a resale, Roblox takes a 30% marketplace fee and you keep 70% of the sale price. Work an example with round numbers. Buy a Helsworn Valkyrie at 15,000 Robux, and you need to sell at about 21,500 R$ before you see your money back, because 21,500 minus the fee leaves 15,050 in your account. Break-even is roughly 1.43 times whatever you paid, on every item in this article.
Holding periods apply too. After buying a copy on the resale market you wait 7 days before you can list it again, and after receiving one in a trade you wait 2 days. Selling a Limited requires an active Roblox Plus subscription on your account, and trading requires one on both sides, though anyone can buy a resale copy without subscribing. Our holding periods guide has the full timing rules.
Which should you actually buy?
Under 50,000 Robux, the answer is Valkyrie and it is not close. Helsworn Valkyrie, Valkyrie 3000, Ornate Valkyrie and Blackvalk Shades all sit inside that budget and all read instantly as the Valkyrie silhouette. No Dominus hat does.
Between 150,000 and 400,000 Robux you get a real choice: Dominus Formidulosus at 160,000, the Valkyrie Helm at 260,000, or Ice Valkyrie at 368,979. Formidulosus is the cheapest way to say Dominus, the Valkyrie Helm is the 2008 original with the longest history behind it, and Ice Valkyrie has about a fifth of the Helm's supply. All three trade often enough that you should be able to get out again.
Above a million Robux, both families turn illiquid and you are buying scarcity, so expect to hold. A Dominus at that level is the older and scarcer bet, with four hats under 30 copies and no realistic chance of Roblox reprinting them. The Valkyrie top end is thinner than its reputation suggests, with Emerald Valkyrie at 51 copies and Sparkle Time Valkyrie at 94, but Roblox has shown it will keep adding helms, and each new one chips at the family's exclusivity. That risk does not exist for Dominus in the same way.
Whichever side you land on, buy at a floor you have actually seen quoted, treat RAP as background, check the rarest Limiteds collection for what small copy counts really look like, and remember that an item nobody is listing is an item nobody is selling. None of this is financial advice, and Robux spent on a hat is money you should be prepared to leave in that hat.
Copy counts, RAP and lowest-ask figures come from the RBX Invest catalog and Roblox's own item endpoints as of September 30, 2026; release dates come from Roblox's item records; marketplace rules come from Roblox's marketplace documentation at create.roblox.com/docs/marketplace, and series membership and early history from the Roblox Wiki.
FAQ
Is a Dominus worth more than a Valkyrie?
Yes, at the top of each family. Dominus Frigidus holds a RAP of 28,059,680 Robux, the highest of any Roblox item, while the highest in the Valkyrie family is Blackvalk at 7,733,715 R$. At the bottom of each family the order flips, because a Valkyrie helm can be had for 14,300 R$ and the cheapest Dominus hat asks 160,000 R$.
What is the cheapest Dominus on Roblox?
Dominus Formidulosus, at a lowest ask of 160,000 Robux with 3,927 copies. The DIY Dominus Empyreus is cheaper at 12,242 R$, but it is the build-your-own version from April 2014 and it does not read as the hat.
What is the cheapest Valkyrie?
Helsworn Valkyrie, at a lowest ask of 14,300 Robux. It was released in October 2025 with 13,811 copies, the biggest print run in the family, and it still trades close to its 12,500 R$ launch price.
How many Dominus hats are there?
Eleven Dominus hats are Limiteds you can buy or trade, holding 6,794 copies between them, plus a DIY kit with 8,302 copies. Six further Domini exist as offsale items that never reach the resale market.
Can you trade a Dominus or a Valkyrie?
Yes. Both are classic Limiteds made by Roblox, and Roblox's marketplace documentation confirms that Roblox-created Limiteds are the tradeable ones. Both accounts need an active Roblox Plus subscription, and a copy received in a trade is locked for 2 days.
Why is Dominus Infernus ranked above items with a higher RAP?
Because only 27 copies exist and they almost never sell, so its RAP of 1,973,087 R$ is still weighted toward old sales. RAP moves one tenth of the way toward each new sale price, which means an item that trades once every few years keeps a figure the market left behind.
Do you need Roblox Plus to buy one?
No. Buying a resale copy of a Dominus or a Valkyrie needs nothing but Robux. You need an active Roblox Plus subscription to sell one on or to trade it, which is the point at which most collectors subscribe.
Which one holds value better over time?
Dominus has the stronger structural case, because Roblox has released no new Dominus Limited since October 2019 and four of them sit under 30 copies. Valkyrie carries a supply risk the Dominus family does not: Roblox added the 13,811-copy Helsworn Valkyrie in October 2025, and every large new helm makes the look easier to own.
