Roblox Skateboard and Hoverboard Limiteds: Prices

Roblox has 12 skateboard and hoverboard Limiteds. The Red Grind Skateboard leads near 15,400 RAP; the Vans snowboard is cheapest at about 1,259 RAP.

Roblox has twelve tradeable skateboard and hoverboard Limiteds, and the Red Grind Skateboard leads the family at about 15,400 RAP. A Limited is a Roblox item published with a fixed number of copies, which owners can then resell to each other. RAP means recent average price, the smoothed average sale price Roblox publishes for every Limited. Everything else in the family sits between roughly 1,300 and 7,900 RAP, so this is one of the cheapest doors into classic collecting.

Quick answer: The Red Grind Skateboard is the most valuable Roblox board Limited at about 15,400 RAP with 1,501 copies, and the Vans x The North Face Snowboard is the cheapest at about 1,300 RAP. Most of the family trades between 4,000 and 8,000 Robux.

What is a Roblox skateboard or hoverboard Limited? Two item types with one look

The family splits into two technical categories, and the difference matters if you plan to wear one.

The boards released between 2011 and 2016 are gear, a Roblox item type that goes in your backpack and does something when you click it. Gear only loads inside an experience whose owner has switched catalog gear on, and most leave it off. You can browse the tradeable gear shelf on the classic gear collection.

The later boards are back accessories, cosmetic items worn on your avatar's back. They display everywhere, in every experience, because they are just part of your outfit. The Surfboard Hat for your Back and both Vans boards work this way, and they sit in the classic back and neck accessory collection.

Every board here was published by Roblox itself, which is what makes them tradeable. Roblox's marketplace documentation states that only Roblox-created Limiteds can be traded, so UGC Limiteds (the ones built by players) change hands through resale alone.

Where did Roblox skateboards come from? A 2010 gear line that stopped working

Roblox introduced the skateboard as a vehicle-type gear in early 2010, and the Roblox Wiki's Skateboard series page records well over a dozen variants across the following decade, from a plain ROBLOX Skateboard to a Skeleboard and a Graffiti board.

Then the technology underneath them aged out. The boards ran on a part called SkateboardPlatform, which Roblox's own engine reference now tags as deprecated. By 2019 the riding animations were unreliable, and community records place the mass removal of the skateboard line from sale in September and October of 2019. Gear was losing ground platform-wide too: Roblox announced on December 3, 2020 that it was removing game-sponsored gear, which had dropped purchased gear straight into a player's backpack.

Four skateboards survived on the shop, and they survived for one reason. They were Limited, so their resale listings stayed live even after the regular versions came down. Those four are the Ultimate Slide Skateboard, the Merica Airwalker, the Fancy Skateboard, and the Red Grind Skateboard.

Who is Merely and why are four hoverboards named after him?

Merely's Sparkle Time Hoverboard

Merely is one of Roblox's best-known Limited collectors, and the Roblox Wiki's Merely's Hoverboard series page documents four Limited boards plus one always-on-sale board released in his name between 2013 and 2016. Community records also describe him interning at Roblox across 2013 to 2015 before joining as a web engineer in 2016. Roblox has not published that biography, so treat it as community-documented history.

The line is simple once you see it. Merely's Sparkle Time Hoverboard came first in July 2013 at 400 Robux with 2,500 copies. Three recolors followed at the same price and the same stock: Green Sparkle Time in February 2015, Bluesteel in August 2015, and Pink Sparkle Time in July 2016. A fifth board, Merely's Hover Surfboard, went up in April 2015 as ordinary catalog gear with unlimited stock, which is why it has no resale market and no row in the table below. The Sparkle Time recolors also belong to the wider Sparkle Time collection, the same naming family as the famous Sparkle Time Fedoras.

The Ghost Hoverboard predates all of them. Roblox published it on October 21, 2011 at 250 Robux with 1,500 copies, and community records say it reuses its texture from the Ghostwalker sword.

Vans Obstacle Backpack with Skateboard October 2021 400 R$ 11,303 1,667 R$ 1,550 R$
Vans x The North Face Snowboard February 2022 500 R$ 7,740 1,259 R$ 1,375 R$

Two rows hide a story the numbers miss. The Fancy Skateboard came out of a Roblox gift card promotion in January 2013, so its supply was set by how many cards people redeemed, and it became a Limited on March 26, 2016. The Surfboard Hat for your Back was on sale for a single day in August 2016 and went Limited on November 14, 2022 with 719 copies, the scarcest board in the family by a wide margin.

You can see all of these ranked live against the rest of the market on the items leaderboard, and the cheap end of the family turns up in the Limiteds under 10,000 Robux collection.

Which Roblox board Limited is worth the most? The Red Grind Skateboard

Red Grind Skateboard

Roblox listed 1,500 Red Grind Skateboards at 77 Robux in July 2014. The item now carries a RAP near 15,400, and the cheapest listed copy sits around 19,500. That is roughly 200 times the original price, the best return in the family by a distance.

Two things drive it. The copy count is low for a board, and the name plugs into a much better-known line: the skate-trick hats. Red Grind, Purple Indy, Euro 180 and the rest of that family are some of the most recognizable classic hats in Roblox trading, and the skateboard reads as the matching piece. We cover those hats in the skater hat series history, and the separate Sk8r line in the Sk8r hat series history.

Notice that the ask is about 1.27 times the RAP. On a thin market, where only a handful of copies change hands in a month, the cheapest listing usually sits above the smoothed average. That gap is normal at this level of trading volume.

Why does a 719-copy board cost the same as a 2,500-copy one?

Surfboard Hat for your Back

The Surfboard Hat for your Back has 719 copies. Merely's Bluesteel Hoverboard has 2,501. Their RAPs are 6,118 and 5,376, so the item with under a third of the supply carries barely a 14% premium.

Scarcity only sets a price when demand turns up to compete for it. The Merely boards have a name collectors chase and a Sparkle Time texture people actually want on their avatars. The surfboard is a joke item whose own description teases Roblox for calling everything a hat, and it went Limited only in late 2022, so it carries far less trading history. Favorite counts line up with that: 713 favorites on the surfboard against 3,336 on the Bluesteel hoverboard.

The Ultimate Slide Skateboard shows the opposite problem. Its RAP is 2,275 while the cheapest listing is 5,997, about 2.6 times the average. When you see a gap that wide, the RAP is usually stale. A few cheap sales years ago dragged the average down, current holders will not part with a copy at that level, and the honest market price sits somewhere between the two numbers. Items listed far above their RAP get called projected, and our guide to what RAP actually measures walks through how the average reacts to each sale.

What do you keep after fees when you resell a board Limited?

On a resale of a Roblox-created Limited, Roblox takes a 30% marketplace fee and you keep 70% of the sale price. The break-even math is short: divide by 0.7, or multiply by about 1.43.

Buy a Ghost Hoverboard at its current 4,497 R$ ask and you need to sell near 6,425 R$ before you have made a single Robux, because 70% of 6,425 is about 4,500. That price would put it above Merely's Sparkle Time board, which is a long wait.

Three rules to know before you buy one to flip:

  • Reselling a Limited needs an active Roblox Plus subscription on the seller's account. The buyer of a resale needs no subscription.
  • Buy a classic Limited on the resale market and a 7-day holding period applies, meaning Roblox blocks you from listing it again for a week. Receive one in a trade and the hold is 2 days. Our holding periods guide covers every case.
  • Robux from selling an item you did not create counts as unearned, so it cannot be cashed out through Roblox's Developer Exchange program.

Roblox's creator documentation on marketplace fees and commissions carries the full split for every item type.

Are Roblox skateboard and hoverboard Limiteds worth collecting?

They make a reasonable first classic Limited and a poor flipping target, for the same reason in both cases: the market is quiet.

In their favor, the entry price is genuinely low. Under 5,000 Robux buys you a 2011 or 2015 item with a four-digit copy count, which is unusual value in a market where the famous hats run into the hundreds of thousands of Robux. The Merely boards carry a named collector and a texture family people recognize, and the Red Grind Skateboard has the strongest track record.

Against them, gear is a dead item type for wearing, the skateboards no longer ride properly, and thin trading means a wide spread between the price you can buy at and the price you can sell at. The two Vans boards are the cheapest things here even though they launched at 400 and 500 Robux, which is what copy counts above 7,000 tend to produce. We looked at that pattern in our piece on brand collaboration Limiteds.

If you want one, buy the board you like looking at, expect to hold it for years, and watch Deals for copies listed under the going rate, which needs a signed-in account. None of this is financial advice, and Limited prices can fall as easily as they rise.

Prices, copy counts, favorite counts and lowest asks come from RBX Invest catalog data as of September 30, 2026; fees, resale rules and holding periods come from Roblox's marketplace documentation; release dates, original prices and series membership come from the Roblox Wiki and are flagged as community-documented where Roblox has not published them.

FAQ

What is the most valuable Roblox skateboard Limited?

The Red Grind Skateboard, at roughly 15,400 RAP with 1,501 copies in existence. Roblox listed it at 77 Robux in July 2014, and the cheapest copy currently on the resale market is around 19,500 Robux.

How many skateboard and hoverboard Limiteds does Roblox have?

Twelve carry live resale data in the RBX Invest catalog: four Merely hoverboards, the Ghost Hoverboard, four skateboards, the Surfboard Hat for your Back, and two Vans boards. Other boards in the family, including Merely's Hover Surfboard and the rolling hoverboards, were regular catalog gear with no fixed stock, so they have no resale market.

Do Roblox skateboards still work?

Not reliably. They run on SkateboardPlatform, a part Roblox's engine reference tags as deprecated, and catalog gear only loads in experiences whose owner has enabled it. Most modern experiences have it switched off. The back-accessory boards, including both Vans items and the Surfboard Hat for your Back, are cosmetic and display everywhere.

Can you trade Roblox hoverboards?

Yes. Every board in this family was published by Roblox, and Roblox's marketplace documentation states that Roblox-created Limiteds are the ones the trade system supports. Both sides of a trade need an active Roblox Plus subscription.

Why is the Ultimate Slide Skateboard listed so far above its RAP?

Its RAP of 2,275 reflects sales stretched over many years, while the cheapest current listing is 5,997. On a market this thin, a few old cheap sales keep the smoothed average low long after holders have stopped selling at that level. The realistic price sits between the two figures.

What is the cheapest Roblox board Limited?

The Vans x The North Face Snowboard, at about 1,259 RAP with a lowest ask near 1,375 Robux. It launched at 500 Robux on February 11, 2022, and 7,740 copies exist. The Vans Obstacle Backpack with Skateboard is close behind at about 1,667 RAP.

How much do you keep when you resell one?

You keep 70% of the sale price, because Roblox charges a 30% marketplace fee on resales of Roblox-created Limiteds. To break even you need to sell for roughly 1.43 times what you paid. Reselling also requires an active Roblox Plus subscription on your account.

Why does the Fancy Skateboard have so many more copies than the rest?

It came from a Roblox gift card promotion in January 2013, so its supply was set by how many cards people redeemed. It became a Limited on March 26, 2016, and 9,364 copies now exist, the second-highest count in the family.
