Roblox's Friend Limiteds are a family of 17 classic companion items released between October 2009 and December 2016: cavemen, zombies, spiders and birds that ride along with your avatar. All 17 are off-sale, so the only way to get one now is to buy it from another player or trade for it. Gork, Your Caveman Shoulder Friend sits near the top of the group at 90,391 R$ RAP, and the Hungry Lion Friend leads the whole family at 129,716 R$ in RBX Invest catalog data as of September 2026.
Quick answer: The Friend series is 17 Roblox-made Limiteds. A Limited is an item with a capped number of copies that players can resell and trade. Eleven of the 17 are gear, six are shoulder accessories, 27,055 copies exist across the family in our catalog data, and RAP runs from 2,592 R$ on the Penguin Friend up to 129,716 R$ on the Hungry Lion Friend.

What are the Roblox Friend Limiteds? Companion items from the 2009 to 2016 catalog
The idea behind the series is simple. You get a small creature that hangs around your avatar. The Roblox Wiki's item pages describe what each one does: Gork sits on your shoulder and mumbles when you click him, and the Skelefriend orbits you. The Creepy Zombie Monkey follows you around, and its catalog description still calls it Captain Steelshank's semi-loyal companion, tying it to Roblox's old pirate line.
Roblox built these in two different ways, and the split matters for value.
Eleven of them are gear, which is equipment that goes into your backpack inside an experience and does something when you click it. Roblox's engine documentation says whether gear is permitted is decided in each place's Permissions settings, and the gear allowlist properties are now marked deprecated, so a gear Friend spends most of its life sitting in your inventory.
The other six are shoulder accessories, which attach to your avatar's shoulder and show up everywhere you go. No permission needed, no backpack, just a bird on your shoulder in every experience you join.
Thirteen of the 17 are serialized, which Roblox's catalog data flags as limited unique. A serialized copy carries a number stamped on it, so copy #1 of the Macaw Shoulder Friend is a different object from copy #1,500. Serials matter to collectors, and low ones sell at a premium. Our serial numbers explainer covers how that pricing works. The four without serials are the Hedgehog Friend, Spider Shoulder Friend, Krampus Shoulder Friend and Penguin Friend.
Which Friend Limited is worth the most? Hungry Lion Friend leads on RAP
RAP stands for Recent Average Price. It's a smoothed average of an item's whole sale history, so it moves a little with each new sale and lags behind fast price swings. The lowest ask is the cheapest price any reseller is currently listing the item at.
Here are the 11 gear Friends, ordered by RAP:
| Item | Released | Launch price | Copies | RAP | Lowest ask |

 Leprechaun Friend |
Mar 2012 | 200 R$ | 981 | 5,822 R$ | 5,200 R$ |
The Hedgehog Friend is the odd one. It launched at 2,000 R$, ten times what most of its siblings cost, and only 425 copies exist. The Roblox Wiki records that it stayed a normal catalog item for three years and only became a Limited during the Memorial Day 2015 sale. Small supply plus a late conversion is a good recipe for a stable floor, and its 25,000 R$ ask sits well under its RAP.
You can see every gear Limited ranked live on the classic gear collection, and the whole family shows up alongside the rest of the market on the items leaderboard.
The shoulder accessory Friends: cheaper, and two of them only went Limited in 2022
The six accessory Friends cost a fraction of the gear ones, and they sit alongside the rest of the old catalog on the classic accessories collection. They also have a quirk. Two of them spent years as ordinary sold-out catalog items before Roblox flipped them to Limited status in late 2022, which the Roblox Wiki dates to that October and December. It's the same mechanic covered in our guide to offsale items going Limited.
| Item | Released | Launch price | Copies | RAP | Lowest ask |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|

Oct 26, 2011 | 100 R$ | 888 | 15,132 R$ | 12,996 R$ |
 Macaw Shoulder Friend |
Jul 2013 | 150 R$ | 1,500 | 11,045 R$ | 12,300 R$ |
 Tropical Holiday Shoulder Bird |
Dec 19, 2011 | 100 R$ | 986 | 8,134 R$ | 35,000 R$ |
 Flying Squirrel Friend |
Jan 2016 | 100 R$ | 5,005 | 3,537 R$ | 3,400 R$ |
 Krampus Shoulder Friend |
Dec 22, 2016 | 200 R$ | 1,617 | 2,980 R$ | 2,779 R$ |
 Penguin Friend |
Nov 2013 | Gift card | 2,923 | 2,592 R$ | 2,425 R$ |
The Penguin Friend never had a Robux price. According to the Roblox Wiki it went out as a gift card redemption through Toys R Us in December 2013, which puts it in the same bucket as the items in our gift card items guide. Roughly 2,900 people redeemed it, and it's the cheapest way into the family today.
The Macaw Shoulder Friend has 16,136 favorites on 1,500 copies, one of the best attention-to-supply ratios in the series. Its ask sits slightly above RAP, which usually means holders aren't in a hurry.
Why do RAP and the lowest ask disagree so much here?
Look down the two tables and you'll notice something odd. Some asks sit far above RAP and some sit far below.
The Hungry Lion Friend has a RAP of 129,716 R$ and a lowest ask of 44,000 R$. That gap tells you the last few recorded sales printed much higher than what anyone is willing to list at now. On a thin market, one or two unusual sales drag RAP up and it takes many normal sales to pull it back down, since RAP only moves a fraction of the distance toward each new sale price. Our projected items guide explains how traders inflate RAP on purpose, and any item with a floor at a third of its RAP deserves a second look before you pay RAP for it.
The Tropical Holiday Shoulder Bird runs the other way: RAP 8,134 R$, ask 35,000 R$. Only 986 copies exist and almost nobody lists one, so the few holders who do list price high and wait. The Monster Friend does the same thing at 14,040 R$ RAP against a 37,888 R$ ask.
Read the two together. RAP tells you where sales have been clustering, and the ask tells you what you'd pay right this minute. When they're close, like the Krampus Shoulder Friend at 2,980 R$ RAP against a 2,779 R$ ask, the market is liquid and the price is real. When they're 3x apart, you're looking at a standoff between a stale average and a stubborn seller. Watching both over time on an item's price chart is the fastest way to tell which one is moving.
What drives the premium on Friend Limiteds?
Three things, in this order.
Copy count. The four smallest supplies in the family are the Hedgehog Friend at 425, the Spider Shoulder Friend at 888, Gork at 941 and the Robot Friend at 956. Four of the five highest RAPs here belong to items with fewer than 1,250 copies, and you can find the rest of the market's scarce items on the Limiteds under 1,000 copies collection.
Age and story. The 2009 to 2012 items carry more weight than the 2016 ones. The Cursed Mummy Friend is one of the oldest gear Limiteds on the platform, and old accounts wearing old items is a status signal that hasn't gone away in fifteen years.
Character. The Friends that people actually remember are the ones with voices and animations. Gork talks. The Skelefriend has 49,313 favorites, the highest count in the family by a wide margin, on 1,954 copies. Favorites are a rough read on how many people would want one if it were affordable, and we measured how far that actually carries in do favorites affect value.
Reselling a classic Limited costs you 30% of the sale price in marketplace fees, so a Gork sold at 53,000 R$ puts 37,100 R$ in your pocket. Price your exit with that in mind before you buy.
Are the Shoulder Friends on sale today part of the series? No, they're a separate line
They're a different line entirely, and it trips people up constantly. Roblox ran a completely separate Shoulder Friend line from around 2015 onward that was never Limited: the Shoulder Kangaroo (140 R$), Raccoon Scout Shoulder Friend (150 R$), Shoulder Chupacabra (300 R$), Vladhog Shoulder Friend (400 R$) and dozens more, all still on sale from Roblox at catalog prices as of September 2026.
Those are regular catalog accessories with unlimited copies. They can't be traded, they have no serials, and they won't appreciate, because Roblox can sell as many as people want to buy. They look similar to the Limited Friends and cost a couple hundred Robux. If someone offers you a "shoulder friend" cheap, check whether the item page says Limited before you send anything.
Collector's outlook: where the Friend series goes from here
The gear half of the family is the interesting half and the riskier one. Gear as a category has been quietly sidelined by Roblox for years, and an item whose whole appeal is a click animation you rarely get to use is leaning entirely on nostalgia. That has held up fine so far, and the Gork and Skelefriend floors above 50,000 R$ say the 2010 to 2012 collector crowd is still buying. You're buying memory here, so size the position accordingly.
The accessory half is easier to hold. A shoulder bird shows up on your avatar in every experience you join, and the supply is fixed. The Macaw Shoulder Friend and Spider Shoulder Friend look like the sensible entries for someone building a themed set without a huge budget.
What I'd watch: the two 2022 conversions. The Spider Shoulder Friend and Krampus Shoulder Friend have only been Limited for a few years, which means their price history is short and their holder base hasn't sorted itself out yet. Items like that tend to drift for a while before finding a level. If you want to catch one of these below its usual floor, the Deals feed flags below-RAP listings as they appear, and it needs a signed-in account.
None of this is financial advice. Limiteds are a volatile market and you can lose Robux on any of them.
Prices, copies, RAP and favorite counts come from RBX Invest catalog data as of September 16, 2026; release dates, launch prices, stock counts and serial status were checked against Roblox's own catalog listings, item functions and release history against the Roblox Wiki, and the gear permission rules against Roblox's engine documentation.
FAQ
What are the Roblox Friend Limiteds?
They're a family of 17 Roblox-made Limited items released between October 2009 and December 2016 that put a companion creature on or around your avatar. Eleven are gear, meaning they go in your backpack inside an experience, and six are shoulder accessories that your avatar wears all the time.
Which Friend Limited is the most expensive?
The Hungry Lion Friend has the highest RAP in the family at 129,716 R$ as of September 2026, ahead of Gork, Your Caveman Shoulder Friend at 90,391 R$. Its cheapest listing is far lower at 44,000 R$, so RAP is running ahead of what sellers are actually asking.
Which Friend Limited has the fewest copies?
The Hedgehog Friend, with 425 copies. It launched in March 2012 at 2,000 R$, the highest launch price in the series, and only became a Limited in 2015. Its RAP sits at 37,022 R$ with a lowest ask of 25,000 R$.
Can you still buy Friend Limiteds from Roblox?
No. All 17 are off-sale, which means Roblox itself sells zero copies. You get one by buying from a reseller on the item's marketplace page or by trading for it with another player, and trading requires an active Roblox Plus subscription on both accounts.
Do the Friend Limiteds have serial numbers?
Thirteen of the 17 do. Roblox's catalog data flags them as limited unique, which means each copy carries its own number. The Hedgehog Friend, Spider Shoulder Friend, Krampus Shoulder Friend and Penguin Friend have no serials.
Can you actually use the gear Friends in Roblox experiences?
Only where the place allows gear. Roblox's engine documentation says gear permissions are set per place and the gear allowlist properties are marked deprecated, so a gear Friend usually just sits in your inventory. That's part of why traders treat them as collectibles.
How much does Roblox take when you resell a Friend Limited?
Roblox takes a 30% marketplace fee on a classic Limited resale, leaving you 70% of the sale price. A Friend sold at 50,000 R$ nets 35,000 R$. Reselling also requires an active Roblox Plus subscription on the seller's account, though the buyer doesn't need one.
Are the cheap Shoulder Friends in the catalog the same items?
No. Roblox has sold a separate, non-Limited Shoulder Friend line since about 2015, including the Shoulder Kangaroo at 140 R$ and the Raccoon Scout Shoulder Friend at 150 R$. Those have unlimited copies, can't be traded, and hold no resale value. Check the item page for the Limited tag before you buy or trade.
