How the series started: four New Year's items in one week of December 2009
Roblox published four New Year's items in the last days of 2009, and every one of them became a Limited.
The 2010 Party Cap came first, sold for 10 Tickets. Tickets were Roblox's second currency, earned for free by logging in and by visitors to your places, and Roblox retired them in 2016. The 2010 New Year's Top Hat sold for 500 Robux on the same day and stayed on sale until February 3, 2010, when Roblox flipped it to Limited. That flip is the oldest trick in the Roblox economy and it still happens: an item sells openly, Roblox pulls it, and the fixed supply starts trading. The 2010 Roman Candle was a gear, meaning an item you equip and use, and Roblox priced the stock as a joke about the year: 2,010 copies at 100 Robux each. 2010 Fireworks: 125,841 copies out of a gift box
The 2010 Fireworks never had a price. According to the Roblox Wiki's entry, it came out of the Stainless Steel Gift of December 26th, one of the boxes from that winter's gift event, and it went Limited on the same day it appeared. Thousands of players opened that gift, so 125,841 copies exist and the item trades like a commodity. Our data records 3,770 sales since late 2022, 76 of them in the last 30 days, at a lowest ask of 798 Robux. That makes it one of the easiest classic Limiteds in the game to buy and one of the hardest to profit on, because there is always another seller.

Why is the 2011 New Year's Top Hat the most expensive? 196 copies and almost no sales
Roblox sold the 2011 New Year's Top Hat on December 26, 2010 for 500 Robux with a stock of 200 copies, which the Roblox Wiki's series page records as the rarest print in the whole top hat line. Roblox's catalog counts 196 today.
It is a Limited Unique, the type where every copy carries a serial number stamped in the order it sold. Serial 1 of 200 is worth more than serial 173 to the right buyer, which we explain in Roblox Limited serial numbers explained.
The trading record is thin enough to count on your fingers. Our data holds 13 sales since late 2022. The last two were 29,990 Robux in April 2026 and 240,000 Robux in June 2026, and nothing has sold since.
That June sale is a clean lesson in how RAP behaves. Every sale drags RAP one tenth of the way from where it sits toward the price that just printed. Before that trade the number sat near 29,800. One sale at 240,000 pushed it to 50,854, which is still only about a fifth of what the copy actually fetched, and the cheapest listing today asks 350,000. The New Years Crown 2012 is a cardboard crown that cost 666 Robux with a stock of 50 copies. Roblox's catalog now counts 35. It is a Limited Unique, so every copy has a serial, and 15 of the 50 serials have gone with deleted or terminated accounts.
Its release date is murky. Roblox's own catalog record stamps the asset January 3, 2012, while the Roblox Wiki dates the sale to April 1, 2012 and files the item under that year's April Fools incident. The wiki also records heavy hoarding on this crown, with single holders at times sitting on 18 and 19 of the 50 copies. Treat those details as community-documented lore. The copy count is the part Roblox confirms, and 35 is a very small number.
Pricing it is the hard part. Our data has recorded zero sales of this crown since tracking began in late 2022, and Roblox reports no copy listed for resale today. The RAP of 90,011 is a memory of trades that happened before we started watching. Traders rank it well above that figure, and with no listing and no sales there is nothing to argue with. A copy changes hands when an owner decides to sell, at whatever the two of them agree.

New Years Doge: the last New Year's Limited Roblox made
New Years Doge landed in December 2014 at 1,000 Robux with 751 copies and the description "Such years. So new. Much party. Wow." It is the newest Limited in the family and the end of the line. Roblox has not released a New Year's Limited since.
It trades a few times a year. Our data holds 92 sales since late 2022, with seven in the last 30 days at prices between 16,457 and 35,999 Robux. RAP reads 24,442, the lowest ask is 36,000, and the item sits in the middle of the pack in value while having a smaller print than everything below it in the table. The Doge meme keeps demand alive, which is a pattern across the rest of the Doge series.
Did Roblox keep making New Year's hats? Yes, as regular catalog items
The New Year's Top Hat series ran longer than the Limited list suggests. The Roblox Wiki's series page lists nine hats between the 2010 and 2019 editions, and only the 2010 and 2011 versions were ever Limited. The rest went on sale, sold to whoever wanted one, and then went offsale, meaning Roblox stopped selling new copies without capping the supply.
A few worth knowing:
- Happy New Year 2012 sold for 1,000 Robux and was bought 1,077 times before going offsale on January 1, 2012.
- 2013 New Year's Top Hat cost 10 Tickets and sold 167,701 copies, which is what a cheap currency does to a print.
- 2016 New Years Hat sold 9,808 copies at 100 Robux; the 2017 New Year's Hat sold 16,059 at 117 Robux.
- The 2018 edition was cancelled, and the series stopped after the 2019 hat.
Two of them are still on sale from Roblox right now, which surprises most collectors. The 2014 New Years Top Hat costs 250 Robux and the 2019 New Year's Hat costs 119 Robux, both confirmed on Roblox's catalog on September 15, 2026. Neither one is a Limited, so neither has a resale market. They are hats you buy to wear.
What replaced them? 202 UGC New Year's items with a 95 Robux median RAP
Roblox opened Limited publishing to community creators in April 2023. A UGC Limited is a Limited published by a community creator, and every December since then the catalog has filled with New Year's versions of whatever sells.
Our catalog holds 202 UGC Limiteds with "New Year" in the name, and together they carry 213,974 copies. The median RAP across them is 95 Robux. The highest is New Years 2025 Crown at 4,581, on a 25-copy print. Set that against the eight Roblox items: 12,240 copies between them once you exclude the Fireworks, with two of them above 50,000 RAP.
The reason is supply. Fifty creators making a New Year's valkyrie in the same week produce fifty near-identical items, and buyers spread across all of them. UGC Limiteds also cannot be traded. Roblox's player-to-player trade system handles classic Limiteds only, so a UGC New Year's crown moves through Marketplace resales and nothing else. The eight classic items in this article can be both traded and resold.
Are Roblox New Year's Limiteds worth buying in 2026?
Depends on your budget and your patience.
Under 5,000 Robux, the 2010 Party Cap, 2010 Roman Candle and 2014 Shades are the cheapest classic Limiteds in the family, and all three actually trade. The Party Cap recorded 24 sales in the last 30 days. Flipping them is hard work, though. Roblox charges a 30% marketplace fee on a classic Limited resale, so a seller keeps 70% of the price. Buy the Party Cap at its 4,321 ask and you need about 6,173 Robux to break even, which is above every sale it has printed this month.
Around 30,000 Robux, the 2010 New Year's Top Hat is the interesting one. It has a real trade record, 788 copies, and it carries the name of a series whose rarest member asks more than ten times as much.
Above that, the 2011 New Year's Top Hat and the New Years Crown 2012 are gems, which is our word for a scarce, high-value Limited. They are patient money. Sales come once a year at best, and the spread between RAP and the ask is enormous. Most copies move after a conversation with the owner.
