Roblox April Fools Items: History and Prices

Roblox April Fools items date to 2008. Ten are classic Limiteds, led by the Knight of the Stygian Abyss, with live RAP and resale prices.

Roblox has released April Fools items on and off since 2008, and ten of them are classic Limiteds with live resale listings today. The best known is the Sparkle Time Traffic Cone, a glittering road cone from April 1, 2014 that carries a RAP near 196,000 Robux. The oldest is the Golden Teapot of Pwnage from April 1, 2008, whose catalog description name-checks April Fool's Day directly. Two of the most famous April 1 hats never got a copy cap: Bees and Doge are both still sitting on the Roblox catalog, at 150 and 245 Robux.

Quick answer: Roblox's April Fools items are joke hats and accessories the company published on April 1, mostly in 2008, 2011 and 2014. Ten are classic Limiteds, led by the Knight of the Stygian Abyss and the Sparkle Time Traffic Cone, and two of the best known (Bees and Doge) are still on sale at their catalog prices.

What are Roblox April Fools items?

They're avatar items Roblox published on April 1 as gags, usually with a joke description to match. A few are ordinary catalog hats anyone can still buy. The interesting ones are Limiteds, meaning Roblox capped how many copies could ever exist, so once the stock sold out the only way to get one is to buy it from another player.

Because Roblox itself made them, they're classic Limiteds: the older hat-and-accessory type that moves through both player-to-player trading and the resale marketplace. UGC Limiteds, the community-made items Roblox opened up in April 2023, can only be resold. Our guide on classic Limiteds versus UGC Limiteds walks through the split.

Two numbers show up for every one of them. RAP, short for recent average price, is a smoothed average Roblox keeps of an item's sale history, and it moves only a little on each new sale. The lowest ask, sometimes called the resale floor, is the cheapest price any holder currently has a copy listed at. Those two can sit far apart, and on April Fools items they often do.

One note on dates: our catalog records Roblox's upload timestamps in UTC, so a few of the 2014 items are stamped just after midnight UTC on April 1, which was still March 31 in California.

Which Roblox April Fools item is worth the most?

Knight of the Stygian Abyss

The Knight of the Stygian Abyss leads on both RAP and trader consensus, and the Sparkle Time Traffic Cone sits second. The Knight is the gem of the group, using "gem" the way traders do for a scarce, high-value Limited that rarely comes up for sale. Its mint (the total number of copies Roblox ever made) is 481, and its cheapest listing sits near 1.5 million Robux, so it's the kind of item people hold for years.

The whole group, ordered by consensus street value, with copies and asks from our catalog as of September 2026:

Item Released Original price Copies RAP Lowest ask
Knight of the Stygian Abyss Apr 1, 2011 1,000 R$ 481 520,993 1,499,996
Sparkle Time Traffic Cone Apr 1, 2014 1,000 R$ 301 195,724 670,000
Golden Teapot of Pwnage Apr 1, 2008 13,337 Tix 1,439 45,842 54,999
Bright Blue Porkpie Apr 1, 2014 0 R$ 395 21,036 38,000
Egypt's Greatest Ruler Apr 1, 2011 500 R$ 384 17,486 123,456
DIY Dominus Empyreus Apr 1, 2014 133 R$ 8,302 12,727 12,000
Neon Green Beautiful Hair Apr 1, 2014 200 R$ 23,265 6,246 6,500
The Bright One Apr 1, 2014 250 R$ 1,308 6,396 6,900
Order of the Cobalt Diamond Apr 1, 2011 300 R$ 959 4,979 8,499
Brilliant Samurai Apr 1, 2014 0 R$ 2,759 1,581 1,450

Original price is Roblox's listed catalog price. The 2008 teapot sold for Tix, short for Tickets, the second currency Roblox retired in 2016 (our Tix history covers that). The two items marked 0 R$ carry no Robux price in Roblox's records, and the Brilliant Samurai went out through a retail gift card code.

Two places where consensus and RAP disagree are worth calling out. Neon Green Beautiful Hair ranks above The Bright One on trader consensus even though its RAP is about 150 Robux lower, because the hair has a real buyer base while The Bright One barely moves. And the Traffic Cone's RAP of 195,724 sits against a lowest ask of 670,000, the widest gap in the table. On a 301-copy item, sales are rare enough that RAP can sit on an old print for months while holders quietly raise their asks. For how that smoothing works, see our RAP explainer.

You can watch all of these move live on the items leaderboard, and the pricier ones show up in the most expensive Limiteds collection.

April 1, 2008: the Golden Teapot of Pwnage

Golden Teapot of Pwnage

Roblox's first April Fools item is also its most self-aware. The Golden Teapot of Pwnage went up on April 1, 2008 for 13,337 Tix, and its catalog description is still there today: "It is whispered that if 1337 people buy this hat, the great Clockwork shall return ... erm ... next week ... and lead his people to the promised land. Thus spake Telamon upon April Fool's Day."

Telamon is the old account name of John Shedletsky, one of Roblox's earliest staff members, and Clockwork was another early Roblox name. In the end 1,439 copies sold, comfortably past the 1,337 the description asked for.

Roblox capped the teapot's stock on December 13, 2010, turning a novelty hat into a tradable collectible more than two years after release. That path is common for old Roblox items, and we cover it in offsale items going Limited. Today it carries a RAP of 45,842 Robux with a cheapest listing at 54,999, and the rest of its family is in our teapot series history.

April 1, 2011: four hats in three minutes

Bees

Our catalog timestamps show Roblox pushing four hats within three minutes on the evening of April 1, 2011, and they turned out about as differently as four items can.

Bees went up at 150 Robux, a swarm of bees orbiting your head, described as "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee!" Roblox never capped its stock, so it stayed an ordinary catalog hat, and you can still buy it for that same 150 Robux. Almost 180,000 players have favorited it, which is a huge number for a hat nobody trades.

A minute earlier came the Knight of the Stygian Abyss at 1,000 Robux with 481 copies. Its description, "When black just isn't dark enough," reads like a gag, and the helmet went on to become one of the most valuable classic Limiteds on the platform. We wrote it up in full in the Knight of the Stygian Abyss history.

The other two sit in between. Egypt's Greatest Ruler sold 384 copies at 500 Robux with the warning "All that glitters is not gold...beware...", and Order of the Cobalt Diamond sold 959 at 300 Robux. Both are worth many times their launch prices now.

Egypt's Greatest Ruler is also a good lesson in reading asks carefully. Its RAP is 17,486 while the cheapest listing sits at 123,456 Robux, a number somebody clearly picked for the digits. A listing that far above RAP is what traders call projected: the price reflects one holder's hope, and no recorded sale backs it up. Our guide to projected items covers how to spot them before you overpay.

April 1, 2014: the neon batch

The 2014 run is the biggest April Fools drop Roblox ever did, six Limiteds plus a few uncapped catalog items, and the theme was mostly "make it painfully bright."

The paper-bag Dominus

DIY Dominus Empyreus

The DIY Dominus Empyreus is the sharpest joke in the set. Dominus hats are Roblox's most famous status symbol, and this one is a paper bag with the crown drawn on in marker. Roblox priced it at 133 Robux and wrote the punchline into the description: "When you do it yourself, it's less than 1/100th of the original price. But it's also a paper bag."

8,302 copies exist, a large mint for a Limited, and the RAP sits at 12,727 with a cheapest listing of 12,000. Our Dominus collection shows what the real ones cost.

A road cone in Sparkle Time

Sparkle Time Traffic Cone

Sparkle Time is a glittering rainbow finish Roblox has put on some of its most sought-after hats, the Sparkle Time Fedora above all. In 2014 they put it on a road cone, with a description that leans right in: "Traffic cones are designed to be highly visible and easily movable. They weren't designed to sparkle like there's no tomorrow... but we've improved upon that."

At 1,000 Robux with 301 copies, it's now the second most valuable April Fools item on the platform, and the only one besides the Knight with a six-figure RAP. The rest of the finish is covered in our Sparkle Time series history and tracked live in the Sparkle Time collection.

The rest of the 2014 batch

  • Neon Green Beautiful Hair, 200 Robux, 23,265 copies. A radioactive recolor of Beautiful Hair for Beautiful People, one of the most worn hairstyles on Roblox. Description: "Life is all about choices. Some of your choices will be weird and neon."
  • Bright Blue Porkpie, 0 Robux, 395 copies. The smallest mint of the 2014 set, and it shows in the price.
  • The Bright One, 250 Robux, 1,308 copies. Description: "The bright one is here."
  • Brilliant Samurai, 0 Robux, 2,759 copies. This one came from a retail promotion. Roblox handed it to players who redeemed a 25 dollar Roblox card from Walmart in April 2014, which our gift card items guide covers alongside the other store exclusives.
  • Doge, 245 Robux, still on sale, and the most favorited item in this article at 360,755. A Shiba Inu head described as "Very hat. Such doge. Wow." Roblox never capped it, so it stayed an ordinary catalog hat, but it launched a real trading line covered in our Doge series history.
  • Neon Party Guy Shades and Headphones, both free with a package, both offsale now, and neither ever capped.

Does Roblox still make April Fools Limiteds?

No. Our catalog shows no Roblox-published April 1 Limited since 2014. Roblox has kept marking the date with ordinary items: the Hydro Blaster Water Gun went out free on April 1, 2024 with the line "All's fair in love and water warfare" and is now offsale, and the Flavor-Blasted Fruit Knight on April 1, 2025 was a Robux gift card redemption exclusive. Neither has a capped stock, so neither has a resale market.

That fits the wider pattern. Roblox has moved almost all of its scarce-item output to community creators, which we cover in does Roblox still make classic Limiteds.

One April 1 batch gets miscounted as April Fools content. On April 1, 2010, Roblox launched its Egg Hunt, dropping seventeen egg hats in five minutes that evening, including the 99-copy Royal Agate Egg of Beautiful Dreams. Those were Easter items that landed on April 1. The story is in our Egg Hunt 2010 write-up, and the family lives in the eggs collection.

Are April Fools Limiteds worth buying?

The group splits cleanly by supply. The Knight and the Traffic Cone have the smallest mints and the most attention, and they behave like any other gem: a thin float (few copies out in players' hands), rare sales, and asks well above RAP. Expect to wait months to sell one at the price you want. The high-mint pieces trade like ordinary mid-tier Limiteds, and two of them, the DIY Dominus Empyreus and the Brilliant Samurai, currently have floors sitting slightly below their RAP, meaning the cheapest seller is asking less than the smoothed sale average.

A worked example. Say a DIY Dominus Empyreus floor sits at 12,000 Robux while RAP reads 12,727. Buy at the floor, resell at RAP, and you've moved about 700 Robux of paper value. The marketplace fee Roblox takes on a classic Limited resale swallows several times that, so the reason to buy one of these has to be the item itself.

The honest read on novelty items is that they trade on recognition. A paper-bag Dominus and a sparkling road cone stay funny, and that keeps a floor under them. If you want the joke on your avatar, the cheap end of this table is genuinely cheap, and you can browse similar price bands in our Limiteds under 1,000 Robux collection. If you want a gem, the Knight and the Cone are the only two here that qualify, and both cost real money.

None of this is financial advice. Limited prices move on demand and attention, both of which can fade, and a thin-float item can leave you unable to sell when you want to.

To catch these when a holder drops an ask, signed-in users can watch the Deals feed, and the classic side of the catalog is browsable through classic hats and the collections hub.

Figures in this article come from RBX Invest catalog data as of September 2026, cross-checked the same day against Roblox's own catalog records for release dates, original prices, copy counts and lowest resale prices, with every item description quoted from the Roblox catalog.

FAQ

What Roblox items came out on April Fools' Day?

Roblox published April Fools items mainly in three years: the Golden Teapot of Pwnage in 2008; Bees, the Knight of the Stygian Abyss, Egypt's Greatest Ruler and Order of the Cobalt Diamond in 2011; and a six-Limited neon batch in 2014 that included the Sparkle Time Traffic Cone, DIY Dominus Empyreus, Neon Green Beautiful Hair, The Bright One, Bright Blue Porkpie and Brilliant Samurai, plus the uncapped Doge hat.

What is the most valuable Roblox April Fools item?

The Knight of the Stygian Abyss, released April 1, 2011 at 1,000 Robux with 481 copies. It carries a RAP of 520,993 Robux and its cheapest listing sits near 1.5 million. The Sparkle Time Traffic Cone is second with a RAP of 195,724 and a lowest ask of 670,000.

Can you still buy the Bees hat on Roblox?

Yes. Bees has been on the Roblox catalog since April 1, 2011 at 150 Robux and it's still purchasable at that price. Roblox never capped its stock, so it never became a Limited and it has no resale market or RAP.

Is the Doge hat a Limited?

No. The original Doge hat from April 1, 2014 is a regular catalog item still on sale at 245 Robux, with no copy cap. The later hats in the Doge family, released from April 2014 onward, are Limiteds and do have resale markets.

Why is Egypt's Greatest Ruler listed for 123,456 Robux?

Because a holder chose a joke number well above what the item actually trades for. Its RAP is 17,486 Robux, so the 123,456 listing is projected: the price shows one seller's hope and no sale backs it.

What was the DIY Dominus Empyreus?

A 2014 April Fools hat that renders the famous Dominus Empyreus crown as a paper bag with the design drawn on. Roblox sold it for 133 Robux, 8,302 copies exist, and its RAP is 12,727 Robux. Its catalog description states the joke outright: it costs less than a hundredth of the original, but it's also a paper bag.

Does Roblox still release April Fools items?

Roblox still marks April 1, but its recent April Fools releases are ordinary catalog items. Our catalog shows no Roblox-published April 1 Limited since 2014. The Hydro Blaster Water Gun in 2024 was a free uncapped item, and the 2025 Flavor-Blasted Fruit Knight came from a gift card redemption, so neither can be resold.

Are April Fools Limiteds a good investment?

They behave like the rest of the classic market, so supply decides. The Knight of the Stygian Abyss and Sparkle Time Traffic Cone have small mints, 481 and 301 copies, and trade like gems with wide gaps between RAP and asking prices. High-mint items such as Neon Green Beautiful Hair, at 23,265 copies, move slowly on thin margins. None of this is financial advice.
