Where to Buy UGC Limiteds: Shop vs In-Experience

Where to buy UGC Limiteds: about 73% sold their original copies only inside Roblox experiences, never in the Shop. Resales still run on the Marketplace.

Most UGC Limiteds on Roblox were never for sale on the Roblox website. A UGC Limited is a community-made accessory sold in a fixed number of copies, and the creator chooses where those copies go on sale. Across the 184,324 UGC Limiteds in the RBX Invest catalog as of September 2026, 134,302 of them (72.9%) carry a sale location that allows purchases only inside experiences, so the original copies never appeared in the Shop at all. Resale is a separate system. Once a creator turns resale on, the item trades on the Marketplace no matter where its first copies were sold.

Quick answer: About 73% of UGC Limiteds sold their original stock only inside Roblox experiences, and about 27% could be bought in the Shop. Sale location controls the first sale, so you can still buy and resell an experience-only item on the Marketplace afterward.

Sale location UGC Limiteds Share Still in stock Has a live resale listing Average copies
Experiences and dev API only 134,302 72.9% 16,629 37.4% 519
Shop and all experiences 43,607 23.7% 10,913 74.3% 73,419
Shop only 4,074 2.2% 150 27.3% 164
Shop and selected experiences 2,340 1.3% 145 37.4% 359

Where do UGC Limiteds actually go on sale? Mostly inside experiences

GUCCI GG MARMONT SMALL SHOULDER BAG

When a creator publishes an item to the Marketplace, one of the settings they fill in is the sale location. Roblox's marketplace documentation lists two main choices: "Marketplace and All Experiences", which is the default, and "Experience By Place ID (API Only)", where players can buy the original stock only in the games attached to a place ID the creator supplies. The game owner also has to switch the item on for their game before anyone can buy it there.

That second setting is the one most UGC Limiteds use. Take the GUCCI GG MARMONT SMALL SHOULDER BAG, a 50-copy Limited published in December 2023. Roblox's own item data reports it as experience-locked and names the single universe its copies were sold in. Lucid's Federation of Eternal Wealth does the same thing across two universes, spreading 2,525 copies over a pair of games.

For a collector, this changes how you hunt. A Limited with an experience-locked sale location is invisible if you only browse the Roblox catalog. You had to be in the right game, on the right day, with Robux (R$, Roblox's currency) ready.

Classic Limiteds work the other way round

Classic Limiteds, the old Roblox-made hats and faces from the pre-UGC era, sit almost entirely in the Shop. Of the 2,978 classic Limiteds in our catalog, 2,537 are Shop-only, and every one of those has zero original copies left. Their first sales happened years ago, so the sale location is a historical footnote for them. It only matters for the community-made side of the market, which is where new copies still get minted. If you want the longer comparison, we wrote up classic Limiteds versus UGC Limiteds separately.

Can you resell a UGC Limited that was only sold in an experience? Yes

Resale is controlled by a different switch than sale location. A creator decides, once, whether their Limited is resellable. Turning it on is permanent and it stops them from restocking more copies later. After that the item has a Marketplace resale market, and where the original copies were sold has nothing to do with it. The catalog data settles this plainly: of the 134,302 experience-locked UGC Limiteds we track, 50,198 have at least one copy listed for resale right now, and Roblox's own item data returns a current lowest resale price for them. Here are six with live markets, ordered by RAP. RAP is short for recent average price, a smoothed average Roblox calculates over an item's whole sale history, and every sale nudges it one tenth of the way toward that sale's price.

Item RAP Copies Lowest ask
Lucid's Federation of Eternal Wealth 71,680 R$ 2,525 30,000 R$
NIZE Fallen Crown 34,358 R$ 30 50,000 R$
Eternal Sword: Peace Bringer 28,450 R$ 19 20,500 R$
Red Content Creator Hammer 25,795 R$ 50 8,000 R$
GUCCI GG MARMONT SMALL SHOULDER BAG 24,928 R$ 50 48,959 R$
Death's Shadow Valkyrie Helm 22,984 R$ 50 31,313 R$

Copies is the total number ever minted. The lowest ask is the cheapest copy a reseller currently has listed, and it drifts away from RAP on thin markets. Look at the Red Content Creator Hammer: 50 copies, RAP near 26,000 R$, and somebody willing to let one go at 8,000 R$. On an item with 50 copies and a handful of sales a year, a couple of cheap sales drag RAP around, and one impatient seller sets the floor. The Gucci bag runs the other way, with the cheapest copy sitting about twice its RAP. Our write-up on Gucci's Roblox items has more on how the brand collabs held up.

One thing to watch: copies listed far above RAP are what traders call projected, meaning the ask is a wish price that no recent sale supports. We cover how to spot them in projected items explained.

Who gets paid when you buy a UGC Limited? It depends where you click buy

This is the part most people get wrong, and it is worth getting right because it decides whether you can resell at a profit. Roblox's marketplace fees and commissions documentation splits a UGC Limited's first sale three ways.

Buying the original stock Share
Creator 30%
Seller / affiliate 40%
Roblox 30%

That 40% affiliate share goes to whoever owns the experience where the purchase happened. Buy the same item from the Roblox website and no affiliate commission is paid at all, so the experience owner earns nothing. It is the single biggest reason a creator hands 40% of their launch revenue to a game owner: the game brings the buyers.

Resale splits differently, and the affiliate share shrinks.

Reselling a UGC Limited Share
Reseller 50%
Original creator 10%
Seller / affiliate 10%
Roblox 30%

A UGC reseller keeps half the sale price. If you buy a copy for 20,000 R$, you need it to sell for 40,000 R$ to get your money back, because 40,000 x 0.5 = 20,000. Break-even is 2x your cost, every time. Classic Limiteds carry a 30% marketplace fee instead, so a classic seller keeps 70% and breaks even around 1.43x. Our marketplace fees explainer walks through both with more examples.

Two more rules from the same documentation shape the timing. Buying a Limited from the creator at launch comes with a holding period of up to 30 days, meaning you cannot resell during that window, and there is a 30-day escrow hold on the Robux from each purchase. Buying on the resale market carries a shorter hold of up to 7 days. Paid Limiteds are capped at 3,000 copies, while free Limiteds have no ceiling. See Roblox Limited holding periods for the full timing picture.

Also worth knowing before you plan around resale: UGC Limiteds cannot be traded. Roblox's documentation states plainly that only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable, so a community-made Limited changes hands through Marketplace resales and nothing else. Trading itself needs an active Roblox Plus subscription on both sides, and so does listing a resale, though the buyer of a resale needs no subscription.

Are Shop-listed UGC Limiteds easier to resell? Yes, 74% have a live listing

Spyder Chain

Sale location turns out to predict liquidity, which is how easily you can turn an item back into Robux. Among UGC Limiteds listed in the Shop and all experiences, 74.3% have at least one copy up for resale. Among the experience-locked ones, it is 37.4%. Shop exposure puts an item in front of the whole platform, it picks up more owners, and more owners means more people willing to list.

The averages tell you something else. Shop-and-all-experiences Limiteds average 73,419 copies each, far above the 519 average in the experience-locked group. That gap comes from the free Limiteds, which have no quantity cap and get claimed in enormous numbers, and most of those big free drops went out through the Shop.

Here are four Shop-listed UGC Limiteds with real markets, ordered by RAP.

Item RAP Copies Lowest ask
Spyder Chain 1,242,730 R$ 25 3,677,777 R$
Smite Hammer 680,640 R$ 99 555,555 R$
Smite Horns Of Greed 284,687 R$ 99 47,777 R$
Banana 272,770 R$ 99 300,000 R$

The Spyder Chain is the gem of that group, with 25 copies against the 99 of the others. Gem is our word for a scarce, high-value Limited. Its cheapest copy sits near 3.7M R$, roughly three times its RAP, which is normal for an item this thin: with 25 copies, sales are rare enough that RAP lags badly behind what holders will actually accept. Smite Horns Of Greed shows the opposite shape, with 99 copies and a cheapest ask around a sixth of RAP. Both patterns are worth reading before you buy. We covered two of these in the QT Bandana and Smite Hammer, and the chain has its own history in the Spyder Chain write-up.

How do you find UGC Limiteds you can still buy?

Browsing the Roblox catalog will show you only part of the market, so use ranked lists instead. On RBX Invest, UGC Limiteds in stock is the live list of items with original copies left, which is where the 30-day holding period and the 40% affiliate route apply. Sold-out UGC Limiteds covers everything that has moved to resale only. By category, there are pages for UGC Limited hats, UGC Limited face accessories and UGC Limited back accessories, and the full set lives on the collections hub.

For prices, the items leaderboard ranks the whole catalog by value, Deals flags copies listed under their recent market price and needs a signed-in account, and the reseller terminal tracks your own listings and positions. If you want the mechanics of sell-outs first, how long UGC Limiteds take to sell out is the companion piece to this one.

What sale location means for buying and holding

Three things follow from the numbers above.

An experience-locked launch is harder to buy into and thinner afterwards. Fewer buyers see it, so fewer copies end up listed, and the spread between RAP and the cheapest ask gets wide. Wide spreads cut both ways: you can find a copy well under RAP, and you can also get stuck holding one nobody bids on.

Shop exposure is worth paying a little more for if you plan to sell. A 74% chance of a live listing against 37% is the difference between an item you can move this week and one you might sit on for months.

The 2x break-even is the number to keep in your head. Half of every UGC resale goes to the creator, the affiliate and Roblox, so an item has to double before you are even. That single rule ends more resale plans than bad taste in hats does.

None of this is financial advice. Robux spent on collectibles can lose value, and thin markets lose it quietly.

Data in this article comes from Roblox's marketplace fees and commissions documentation for every fee, split and holding period, Roblox's publish to Marketplace documentation for the sale location and resale settings, Roblox's own item details for each item's sale location and lowest resale price, and the RBX Invest catalog for RAP, copies and sale-location counts, all as of September 30, 2026.

FAQ

Can you buy every UGC Limited on the Roblox website?

No. About 73% of UGC Limiteds sold their original copies only inside experiences, so those copies never appeared in the Roblox Shop. In the RBX Invest catalog that is 134,302 of 184,324 items as of September 2026. Once an item is resellable, its resale listings do show up on the Marketplace.

What does the sale location setting do?

It controls where the original stock of a Marketplace item can be bought. Roblox's documentation gives creators "Marketplace and All Experiences", the default, and "Experience By Place ID (API Only)", which restricts first sales to the games tied to a place ID the creator provides. The game owner must also enable the item for their game.

Can an experience-only UGC Limited be resold?

Yes. Resale is a separate setting from sale location, so restricting first sales to experiences does not stop resale. Of the 134,302 experience-locked UGC Limiteds in the RBX Invest catalog, 50,198 have a live resale listing, and Roblox's item data reports a current lowest resale price for them.

How much does a reseller keep on a UGC Limited?

Half. Roblox's marketplace documentation splits a UGC Limited resale 50% to the reseller, 10% to the original creator, 10% to the seller or affiliate, and 30% to Roblox. That makes break-even 2x your purchase price. Classic Roblox-made Limiteds carry a 30% fee instead, leaving the seller 70%.

Who gets the 40% affiliate commission?

The owner of the experience where the purchase happened, and only on the original stock of a UGC Limited. Buying that same item on the Roblox website pays no affiliate commission. On a resale the affiliate share drops to 10%, so the 40% figure applies to launch purchases only.

How long before you can resell a UGC Limited you just bought?

Up to 30 days if you bought the original stock from the creator, and up to 7 days if you bought a copy on the resale market. Roblox's documentation also describes a 30-day escrow hold on the Robux from each purchase, so the payout lands after the sale.

Are UGC Limiteds tradeable?

No. Roblox's marketplace documentation states that only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable. Community-made Limiteds change hands through Marketplace resales, which means a Roblox Plus subscription for the seller, though the buyer of a resale needs no subscription.

Does a Shop-listed UGC Limited hold value better?

It sells faster, and its price is a separate question. 74.3% of Shop-and-all-experiences UGC Limiteds have a copy listed for resale, against 37.4% of the experience-locked ones. Higher liquidity means you can sell sooner, while the price still depends on copies, demand and how well the item wears.
